For decades, the Spirit of Chartwell was the royal barge of Queen Elisabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh. It’s last public display took place in June 2012 at the Queens Diamond Jubilee, because in September 2012, the boat was sold to a Portuguese cruising company.

The new owner will organize deluxe cruises on Douro River close to Porto, home of the famous Porto sweet wines.

Before the Diamond Jubilee, the Spirit of Charwell underwent  1.5 Mio Euros worth of restoration works. Why would you pay 2.500 Euros for a cabin per week, you ask?

Well, first because we’re talking about something that belonged to the Royal House.

Then because it has 14 deluxe cabins, a Royal Suite, a piano bar and an elegant restaurant, so it is spacious enough for all your family and friends.

And last, but not least, because of this aspirational picture: imagine yourself on the upper deck of the Spirit of Charwell, observing from a distance the beautiful Porto buildings, savoring a mix of cherry La Strada sorbet and hazelnut ice cream…
